Duties Help
* Advise top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them.
* Develop law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation.
* Prepare performance rating plans by evaluating department personnel.
* Advisor to the Garrison Commander/Deputy Garrison Commander on all law enforcement issues and related programs.
* Plan short and long-range operating missions.
* Oversee a large sized police department consisting of DA Civilian and Military Police personnel.
* Serve as the primary representative of the Police Department at meetings and conferences concerning law enforcement and security programs.
* Conduct operations independently with the authority to make decisions.
* Initiate and approve personnel actions involving key managers and staff personnel.
* Evaluate progress and effectiveness of the cost of operations to take action to make improvements. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
* Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
* The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
* Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 is required.
* This position has been designated "Mission Essential.
* Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states.
* This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
* Supervisory probation period may be required.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
* This position requires the incumbent to pass a pre-appointment and subsequent periodic medical/psychiatric evaluations.
* This position requires the incumbent to perform and pass semi-annual qualification testing with firearms.
* This position requires the Incumbent to obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
* This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT).
* This position requires the incumbent to meet individual reliability and suitability standards.
* Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force.
* Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) managing law enforcement operations with supervision of law enforcement patrols, desk operations, traffic operations, Police Investigations and Police administration activities;
2) executing programs, policies and procedures related to law enforcement;
3) developing metrics, standard operating procedures (SOP's), policies and strategic plans
4) overseeing the investigation, apprehension, and detention of persons suspected or convicted of offenses criminal in nature. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
