Staff Accountant

Location: Atlanta

Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's leading private liberal arts university, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Finance Office. This position supports a variety of general accounting functions including accounts receivable, cash management, accounts payable, month-end close activities, and audit preparation. The Staff Accountant works collaboratively with departments across campus to support financial operations and ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Support billing and receivable processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and related systems.

* Research and resolve discrepancies in account balances, including tuition charges, fees, and payment activity.

* Support cash receipt activities for the University, including posting and analysis of student payments, gifts, and other receipts.

* Support accounts payable processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and related records.

* Assist with month-end and fiscal year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.

* Assist with the preparation and coordination of financial and operational reporting for internal stakeholders and external agencies.

* Collaborate with departments across campus to address financial inquiries and support accurate and timely reporting.

* Support internal control procedures and assist in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen financial processes.

* Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
