Position Overview
The Finance Specialist performs a variety of general accounting and clerical support functions for the Finance Department. This position assists in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions within the district’s financial software system, and supporting communication between the Finance Department and district employees. The Finance Specialist plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate, and professional financial operations while working collaboratively as part of the finance team.
Job Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education is required. Degree in Accounting would be preferred.
- Experience in an accounting or business environment preferred.
- Munis/Tyler Technology experience is preferred.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel is required.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Job Duties
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance with positive attitude.
- Maintains and reconciles financial records in accordance with district procedures.
- Enters and verifies data within the district’s financial software system.
- Communicates with district staff regarding payment status, account information, and financial procedures.
- Assists with preparation of financial reports and supporting documentation.
- Maintains organized financial files and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
- Collaborates with team members to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
