Position: BCMHS INSTRUCTIONAL LEAD TEACHER - 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: Pembroke

The Bryan County School System is accepting applications for an Instructional Lead Teacher at Bryan County Middle High School for the 2026-27 school year. This is a 200-day position.

Position Overview

The Instructional Lead Teacher (ILT) will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices with a goal of improved student learning and academic growth. The ILT will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and define the understanding of research-based, effective teaching practices and will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of the school and individual teachers.

This is not a supervisory role and does not include formal evaluation of colleagues. The ILT reports directly to the building principal.

Job Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Georgia Professional Teaching certificate, or be eligible to hold the same
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of effective service in teacher-leadership roles (e.g. mentoring, data teams, department chair, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners
  • Proven ability in the effective use of student-level data to guide instructional decisions;
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Models continuous improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning and applies new instructional strategies to ensure the success all students

Essential Job Duties
  • Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding and implementing effective pedagogical practices through informal observations (non-evaluative), modeling, constructive feedback and follow up to ensure effective teacher implementation
  • Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning
  • Assist teachers in the development and implementation of effective classroom management strategies, instructional planning and classroom organization, as needed
  • Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction at all levels
  • Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators and other colleagues
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school, district and community
  • Perform other related duties, as required
