Essential
Job Responsibilities:
Plans, implements, and assesses a comprehensive visual arts program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Demonstrates knowledge of visual arts content, GSE for Visual Arts (K-5), and age-appropriate instructional strategies.
Maintains current knowledge of best practices in arts education.
Incorporates cross-curricular connections to support literacy, numeracy, and other content areas when appropriate.
Plans instruction that differentiates for diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English learners, and gifted students.
Uses a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students in the creative process.
Encourages student choice, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking through artmaking.
Effectively manages the art classroom, materials, and equipment to maximize instructional time and ensure safety.
Uses formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress toward mastery of standards.
Provides timely, constructive feedback to students.
Maintains accurate records of student progress in accordance with district expectations.
Creates a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that promotes creativity and risk-taking.
Establishes clear expectations for behavior and care of materials.
Promotes student responsibility, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures.
Maintains professional conduct and ethical behavior in accordance with the Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators.
Communicates effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Participates in professional learning, faculty meetings, and school events.
Collaborates with classroom teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives and integrated learning experiences.
Assists with the planning, display, and celebration of student artwork throughout the school and community.
Manages inventory, care, and ordering of art supplies within budgetary guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Responsibly supervises students during the school day and assigned extra-curricular activities
Upholds and enforces Board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations
Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time
Attends staff, department, and committee meetings as required
Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state, and federal laws
Perform duties in accordance with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Code of Ethics, Georgia Department of Education regulations, and local Board of Education policies.
Serve as a mandated reporter under Georgia Law.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
