Young Harris College, a private liberal arts institution nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, seeks an energetic, charismatic, and student-centered Assistant Vice President for Professional Readiness and Experiential Programs (PREP). The AVP will work closely with the Vice President for PREP to build innovative co-curricular, extracurricular and professional readiness programming. This position is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in a collaborative, small-college environment and is passionate about empowering students to discover and pursue their purpose through career development, experiential learning, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Program Development- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for career education aligned with the College’s mission and liberal arts values.
- Lead the design, delivery, and assessment of programs and services supporting students’ career exploration, internship experiences, and post-graduate success.
- Collaborate with high-impact practice directors for undergraduate research, honors program, study away, community-based service, and fellowships & scholarships.
- Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and student-focused team culture.
- Provide individualized and group career counseling on career decision-making, job and internship searches, résumé and cover letter development, interview preparation, and graduate/professional school applications.
- Plan and facilitate career-related events such as job fairs, employer panels, networking receptions, and skill-building workshops.
- Partner with the Office of Alumni Engagement to develop meaningful connections between students and YHC alumni for mentoring and career networking opportunities.
- Ensure accessibility of career resources to all students, with a focus on inclusive and equitable career outcomes.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers to expand job, internship, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to integrate career readiness and experiential learning into the curriculum.
- Represent YHC at professional conferences, employer site visits, and community events to promote the College’s students and programs.
- Manage departmental budget, technology platforms, and data systems for tracking outcomes and assessing impact.
- Maintain and expand the College’s online career management system (e.g., Handshake) and social media presence.
- Prepare and present annual reports and strategic plans to campus leadership.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Student Affairs, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in career services, student development, employer relations, or related work.
- Demonstrated success in building partnerships with employers, alumni, and faculty.
- Proven ability to design and implement creative, engaging, and measurable career programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; must be comfortable engaging with students, faculty, staff, employers, parents, and alumni.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities, including experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
- Experience working in a small college or liberal arts environment.
- Familiarity with career management platforms such as Handshake.
