Student Pastor – First Baptist Church Blairsville

Be among the first 25 applicants. The Student Pastor is responsible for overseeing the student ministry strategy for Grades 6-12 at First Baptist Church (FBC). This role requires a firm grasp of FBC’s beliefs, values, and strategy, and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision, and values. Under the direction of the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor, the Student Pastor partners with ministry leaders and parents to guide students toward a genuine sense of belonging, involvement, and spiritual growth ough regular communication, the Student Pastor facilitates relational connection and spiritual growth of students in weekend environments, small groups, mid‑week environments, and volunteer teams.

Character

The Student Pastor must have an active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, uphold and live out biblical principles and core values in both personal and professional life, possess a servant’s heart, be self‑motivated, and take personal pride in his work. He/she should be friendly, courteous, a team player, dependable, and a representative of the Senior Pastor to the congregation and community.

Responsibilities
  • Model Biblical Principles
    • Commit to a daily quiet time with God.
    • Participate in a FBC small group regularly.
    • Set appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
    • Develop personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
    • Support the ministries of FBC by faithfully giving at least 10% of gross income.
    • Adhere to the qualities and characteristics required of FBC employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook.
    • Assist the Senior Pastor in visiting hospitalized and shut‑in members, especially student families.
  • Leadership of Staff and Volunteer Teams
    • Communicate a clear vision and wins for staff and volunteer teams regularly.
    • Build systems and structures that move people from spectators to volunteers.
    • Oversee systems for background checks, safety and security procedures, scheduling, training, and care of volunteers.
    • Develop, maintain, provide training for, and ensure compliance with FBC’s Ministry Safe policy.
    • Lead staff and volunteer meetings.
    • Champion the student ministry leadership development strategy.
    • Provide centralized efforts for training leaders (retreats, tools, etc.).
    • Provide staff and volunteer teams with current student ministry best practices.
    • Ensure the student ministry team answers questions and provides remarkable customer service to parents and students consistently.
    • Provide regular evaluations and feedback to team members.
    • Continuously improve follow‑up methods to plug new students and families into FBC.
    • Prepare and submit an annual Student Ministry budget.
    • Manage budget forecasts and expenses for team leaders.
  • Oversight of Campus Worship Experiences
    • Provide insight and direction for big‑picture programming and creative planning processes.
    • Select relevant curriculum, props, and games for weekend experiences.
    • Ensure check‑in areas, ministry spaces and signage are clear, current, and focused on new students and families.
    • Produce videos, weekly scripts and lessons, printed promotions, verbal announcements, web page information, and marketing about the student ministry at FBC.
    • Create and maintain a safe environment for students, including special needs at FBC.
  • Oversight and Execution of Small Groups
    • Develop a systematic and effective effort to integrate student small groups into weekend environments.
    • Oversee information and tracking of small group participants and leaders.
    • Encourage small group leaders to connect with families and students during the week.
    • Provide opportunities for students to discover their unique purpose and begin developing their talents and abilities.
    • Offer small group leaders curriculum, coaching materials, and creative approaches to small group ministry.
    • Work with the Children’s Director to ensure consistency of approach to the Next‑Generation ministries of the church and a smooth transition from Children’s Ministry to Student Ministry.
    • Implement a strategy to equip parents to help their students take their next steps toward Christ.
