Position Overview:
As a Communications Specialist you play a pivotal role in amplifying AIM’s mission and ministry efforts across Africa and around the world, working to create engaging content to inspire, inform, educate, and equip American believers and the American church in support of AIM US mobilizing efforts. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary creative team, participating in the planning, creation, and distribution of various printed, digital, audio, and video content for AIM US, and in the administration of the tools and systems which support that work.
As a team, we support one another in accomplishing all the tasks of the department, but this role also includes a focus on the production of video, audio, and website content.
- Participate in all US Comms Team collaboration efforts, including weekly team meetings, active Slack messaging, and task tracking in Trello.
- Participate in all required US office activities. (Morning prayer times, prayer days, office‑wide staff meetings, weekly department meetings, etc.)
- Participate in the AIM International Comms Group as necessary (Monthly virtual meetings, etc.)
- Stay apprised of the communications landscape including trends, tools, methods, and new media.
- Interact with AIM membership and partners to identify and solicit engaging stories and other content for use in AIM US communications.
- Travel to AIM fields for specific projects or events as needed.
Video Production and Management
- Produce and edit visually captivating videos that showcase the work, impact, and stories of AIM across Africa and other ministry locations.
- Collaborate with the International Comms Group and AIM Stories on video content as needed.
- Oversee video productions by third‑party or volunteer producers.
- Assist with video strategies for Social Media.
- Manage the AIM US Vimeo account.
- Produce AIM’s monthly “Inlander” audio podcast.
- Produce AIM’s quarterly topical video podcast.
- Maintain a strategy for regular podcast content including identifying stories, guests, and topics, and preparing for interviews ahead of schedule.
- Host podcast interviews (or oversee other hosts), ensuring quality and relevance to AIM’s mission and audience.
- Record and edit interviews and publish via podcast outlets or other channels.
- Ensure podcasts are promoted through social media channels, email marketing, and other avenues to increase listenership and engagement.
- Manage the AIM US podcast publication software and accounts.
- Create visual and written content for AIM US websites.
- Design, build, and maintain web pages.
- Update current websites on an ongoing basis to track with AIMs needs and broader trends.
- A heart for missions and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of AIM.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and cross‑functional team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with sensitivity to cultural nuances and security concerns.
- Resourcefulness in garnering and shaping content for various contexts.
- High level of creativity and strong sense of design.
- Ability to work across a range of media.
- Experience with video production and project management.
- Proficiency in various creative software and an ability to learn new tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
