The Gate Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring smooth gate operations at the depot. This position is responsible for conducting in-gate and out-gate inspections, data entry, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, comfortable working in both office and outdoor settings, and able to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment.

• Conduct in-gate and out-gate interchanges, including physical inspections of containers and chassis for damage or defects.
• Enter gate data accurately using VEM (depot system).
• Produce daily inventory and activity reports for customers and yard personnel.
• Monitor and respond to emails from the Depot inbox; take appropriate action on customer and internal requests.
• Reconcile daily load reports and maintain accurate equipment movement records.
• Receive and process bookings, redeliveries, and release orders in VEM.
• Coordinate with yard personnel regarding equipment movements, releases, and bookings.
• Answer incoming calls, relay load information to rail, and provide customer support as needed.
• Maintain organized filing systems for gate and booking documentation.
• Perform other administrative and operational tasks as assigned by management.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in logistics, intermodal operations, or a related field.
• Ability to understand, read, and write clearly and accurately.
• Strong telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of container and chassis components preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong multitasking skills and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced or high-pressure environment.
• Ability to learn and understand all operational aspects of a depot environment.

• Combination of indoor office and outdoor yard work.
• Must be able to use a computer for prolonged periods.
• Required to work in varying weather conditions, including rain and heat.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, and climb into containers as needed.
