Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
** Coordinates work activities with other program units in the department and with other Victim Services Agencies, the District Attorney, and the County Attorney to ensure smooth and timely service delivery.
* Assists in training police personnel in the area of crisis intervention, Post Traumatic Stress, program procedures, community resources and other relevant issues.
* Provides crisis intervention and/or crisis counseling to victims of violent crimes in person or by telephone, including case notes, documentation, data entry, and assists victims with paperwork on the scene and in the office.
* Provides information regarding Crime Victims Compensation and the criminal justice process to the witnesses and victims of crimes.
* Responds to inquiries from victims through mail, telephone or direct contact.
* Compiles and submits appropriate narrative and statistical reports to State and Federal agencies as required.
* Interviews certain victims/witnesses and family members of victims on police request.
* Composes correspondence to victims, other agencies and professionals.
* Compiles Statistics.
* Maintains lists of community resources.
* Educates the public, community groups, and agencies on Victim Services Programs.
* Develops and updates program procedures and policies.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Maintain and make available to all department employees a list of assistance programs and other resources that are available to unhoused individuals.
* Meet with social service agencies and representatives of other organizations that render assistance to the unhoused. Remain aware of unhoused issues and services through the Department of Housing and Community Affairs (charged with assistance under Tex. Gov't Code § ) and the related Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless (Tex. Gov't Code § ).
* Maintain a list of those areas within and near this jurisdiction that are used as frequent unhoused encampments.
* Remain abreast of laws dealing with the removal and/or destruction of the personal property of the unhoused.
* Coordinate and be available during any clean-up operation conducted by this department involving the removal of personal property of the unhoused to ensure the rights of the unhoused are not violated.
* Develop training to assist officers in understanding current legal and social issues relating to the unhoused.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
**** Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
** Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work, Counseling, Behavioral Science or related field, preferred. Three (3) years of full-time work experience with a law enforcement Victim Services program, social service agency or related field.
One (1) additional year of the required experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education, with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
