Reporting directly to the Animal Services Manager, responsible for coordinating lifesaving foster care programs in support of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter’s goals and mission. Oversees placement of animals in foster families, manages a large foster care population, and assists in foster animal adoption programs.

Responsibilities
  • Develops, administers, and monitors the foster programs and is the primary point of contact for all foster needs and inquiries
  • Supervises Foster Program staff, including training, performance oversight, scheduling, Hiring/Firing, and timecard and leave approval.
  • Manages all targeted foster programs such as Doggy Day Out program, emergency weather fostering, Kitten/Puppy fostering, and others
  • Manages the Offsite Adoption Partnership Program across the county and is the main point of contact for retail partners
  • Recruits, onboards, and provides training to all fosters and offsite volunteers; oversees productivity of programs
  • Implements recognition events and activities with the Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate engagement
  • Manages foster program by reviewing and approving foster applications, communicating with potential fosters on placement needs, and facilitating adoption opportunities
  • Develops, updates, and ensures compliance with all foster policies, procedures, training, and orientation materials
  • Maintains accurate foster program records, including animal census tracking, case follow-up, and administrative documentation using relevant software systems.
  • Works closely with shelter staff to determine animals' priority foster care needs, communicates animal needs to foster community, schedules transfer of animals to/from foster homes, and monitors medical and behavioral needs of animals while in foster care
  • Monitors and maintains social media sites and other communication platforms used by foster programs
  • Prepares statistical reports on foster program performance, including offsite adoption data, and tracks donations from foster-related events.
  • Remediates complaints, concerns, and conflicts between fosters and/or staff in coordination with shelter leadership
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with community organizations and serves as the primary liaison to local and national offsite adoption partners to expand the foster network.
  • Attends all meetings and trainings as required

Physical Demands
  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and other fine motor repetitive motions
  • Position involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) Position involves hearing and/or seeing alert cues regarding animal and staff security
  • Position involves maintaining composure in a high-stress environment
Environmental Factors
  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • May work outside in inclement weather
  • Frequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and blood
  • Exposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelter
  • Exposure animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch
  • Regular travel between work sites as required
  • Position involves working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Position involves working with distressed individuals
Irregular Hours
  • Regular work outside of shelter hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Essential personnel for emergency situations; at discretion of department director
  • Available to all volunteer and fosters outside of normal shelter operation hours
  • Regular attendance is required
