2nd Shift Welder

Chatsworth Products (CPI) is looking for a Welder in its Georgetown, TX location. The role is key to building the physical infrastructure that powers, protects, and secures the world’s digital technology.

• Under supervision, set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment for the manufacturing of metal cabinets.
• Plan details of working procedures, tools, and material requirements.
• Weld sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.).
• Clean and prepare surfaces (including sanding) to be welded.
• Use cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape.
• Build up worn or defective surfaces.
• Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
• Work from blueprints, engineering specifications and production schedules.
• Upon completion of welding operations, assist other areas as needed.

• Continuously maintain a clean work area, dispose of trash and production scrap, and assist in cleaning common areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• High school or equivalent education preferred.
• Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate capability of welding sheet metal products by passing a welding test.
• Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications; basic reading, writing and numerical ability.
• Proficient in using measuring devices for product inspection.
• Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictate.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be knowledgeable of safe operating rules and procedures and demonstrate competence through written and practical application.
• Must wear all required personal protective equipment, especially eye protection due to the considerable glare emitted from the work.
• Work involves:
  • Varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing/pulling of carts with loaded material.
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury when liftingigir, carrying, and manipulating lengthy materials (e.g., 10’).
  • Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and working on structures of varying height and length.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • The work area must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.
