Position Summary
Primary responsibility for collection and analysis of nutrient monitoring data as part of the NERRS long‑term water quality monitoring program. Assists field operations for the in‑situ sensor network and participates in related research and monitoring activities.

Job Responsibilities- Process nutrient and water quality data, including data quality assessment, quality control, and submission to the Centralized Data Management Office.
- Maintain, deploy, and retrieve automated water samplers according to schedule and needs.
- Facilitate day‑to‑day analytical services: maintain equipment, implement laboratory sample management and quality assurance, order and stock lab supplies.
- Conduct laboratory analyses of water samples using various analytical equipment.
- Participate in statistical analysis, interpretation, presentation, and publication of nutrient and water quality data.
- Participate in additional research and monitoring studies contributing to the mission of NERRS.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, marine or environmental science, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of estuarine or aquatic ecology.
- Experience with small outboard engine boat operations and safety.
- Experience conducting field and laboratory research.
- Familiarity with basic environmental sampling techniques and laboratory methods.
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of basic data management and statistical procedures.
- Prior experience with greenhouse gas emission studies is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and understand scientific publications and instruction manuals and execute actions to support scientific goals.
