Assistant Maintenance Manager – Manufacturing
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Maintenance Manager to support maintenance operations within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, facility upkeep, safety compliance, and minimizing downtime through effective maintenance strategies and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day production maintenance operations, including facilities, buildings, and equipment
- Lead and direct maintenance teams, including technical and non‑technical staff and external contractors
- Ensure all equipment remains operational, safe, and productive
- Coordinate and oversee facility maintenance and upkeep while managing within a defined budget
- Manage and prioritize the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program in collaboration with production leadership
- Plan, schedule, and control maintenance activities, janitorial services, vendors, and contractors
- Request, review, and manage work orders, bids, and vendor proposals
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through strong problem‑solving and organizational skills
- Maintain knowledge of building systems including:
- Electrical systems
- HVAC, air handling units, rooftop units
- Plumbing systems
- Mechanical systems
- Power transmission, pumps, valves
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Develop and execute inspection programs (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual)
- Schedule, document, and maintain maintenance and repair records for all equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and hazardous waste regulations
- Maintain accurate department documentation and maintenance records
- Manage parts, tools, and inventory to minimize equipment downtime
- Schedule work based on job priority and equipment availability
- Ensure all required safety training is completed and properly documented
- Strong working knowledge of building systems in a manufacturing facility
- Well‑rounded experience in plant maintenance, repairs, and operations
- Hands‑on knowledge of electrical systems, welding, and fabrication processes
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and control diagrams - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams or crews
- Ability to be on‑call and work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays
- Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in maintenance or manufacturing
- Full‑time
