Our client is searching for an experienced Assistant Store Manager to be based at Walmer Park.

Key Performance Areas
  • General knowledge of Standard Operating Practices for Retail
  • Must have been actively involved in assisting the manager drive sales growth and determine retail shopping patterns

  • Help the Store Manager drive the staff to effectively perform ensuring that each month’s budget is met

  • Achieve set revenues and maintain required margins and KPIs
  • Ensures effective store facilities management
  • Supervises the store employees in the areas of loss prevention customer services
  • Provides management advice to staff on problems / store emergencies
  • Verifies and monitors hours worked by temps on time sheets controls overtime usage etc.
  • Management of expenses to ensure they do not exceed budget e.g. telephone stationery petty cash purchase orders etc.
  • Management of staffing plans
  • Oversees stock counts
  • Management of all operations programs
  • Monitors and orders all store operating and merchandising suppliers e.g. signage tags stationery
  • Cash management opens and closes store in accordance with established policies and procedures i.e. verifies opening cash balance at each register run daily bank up etc.
  • Oversees daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit procedures
  • Communicate promotional event information to maximize the result of each event
  • Execute staff dress in the store
  • Perform any and all duties normally assigned to subordinate staff to maintain staff coverage and to lead by example
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 5yrs experience in the retail sector
  • Minimum of 3yrs experience in working as an Assistant Manager in a similar environment
  • Matric
  • Tertiary / Post Matric Qualification would be advantageous
  • Experienced in training staff on the job in terms of product knowledge policies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Must have a track record on handling store audits this includes the overseeing of / execution of store audit outcomes
  • Must display high levels of maturity of thought and professionalism
