Accounts Assistant

The Accounts Assistant provides administrative and financial support to the finance department by assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a solid understanding of basic accounting principles.

Description:
Accounts Payable

• Capture supplier invoices accurately and timeously
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and process payment requests
• Maintain supplier records and documentation

Accounts Receivable

• Assist with customer invoicing
• Allocate customer payments and receipts
• Follow up on outstanding debtors when required
• Maintain accurate debtor records

Banking & Reconciliations

• Assist with daily banking and cashbook processing
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items

General Ledger Support

• Assist with journal entries
• Maintain filing systems for financial documentation
• Support month-end and year-end processes

Administration & Compliance

• Ensure supporting documentation is properly filed and stored
• Assist with audit preparation and requests
• Adhere to company financial policies and procedures
• Perform general finance-related administrative duties

Requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Relevant accounting or finance qualification (advantageous)
• 1–3 years’ experience in a similar accounts or finance role
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
