Mini Excavator Operator

Our client in George is seeking a reliable and experienced Mini Excavator Operator to join its operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of a mini (compact) excavator on various construction and civil works sites. Duties will include trenching, earthmoving, material handling, and supporting general site activities, while ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Description:

• Safely and efficiently operate a mini excavator and related plant equipment.
• Coordinate and collaborate with site supervisors, plant managers, and team members to achieve project objectives.
• Carry out excavation, trenching, back filling, and material movement tasks in accordance with site requirements.
• Perform manual labour when required, including digging with hand tools and lifting materials.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation inspections and complete equipment check sheets.
• Grease, clean, and carry out routine maintenance of the mini excavator.
• Submit accurate job cards and operational reports.
• Report daily tasks, activities, and equipment performance to the Plant Manager.
• Timeously arrange lubricants and fuel requirements.
• Discuss work tasks, progress, and site requirements with Project Construction Managers.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, environmental, and site-specific regulations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience operating mini excavators or similar/larger earthmoving equipment.
• Valid driver’s license:
  Code EC.
• Minimum of 10 years’ driving experience with a valid PDP.
• Sound understanding of construction site safety regulations and operating procedures.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour when required.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
