Senior Scientist, Ingredient Discovery S&R

Join dsm-firmenich’s New Ingredients Discovery team as a Senior Scientist, where you will be at the forefront of innovation in sustainable perfumery. In this strategic role, you will contribute to the discovery and development of novel fragrance ingredients, leveraging your deep chemical expertise and data-driven insights to explore the vast olfactive chemical space. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside top-tier scientists, driving innovation through advanced chemical technologies and methodologies.

Your work will directly support the creation of next-generation, sustainable ingredients that shape the future of beauty and fragrance.

• Discovery Efforts:
  Lead the identification, design, and delivery of novel, sustainable ingredients, contributing to breakthrough innovations in perfumery and beauty, nutrition and health applications.
• Project Leadership:
  Manage and execute innovation projects aligned with strategic business goals, ensuring timely and impactful outcomes.
• Accelerate Innovation:
  Develop and implement advanced discovery strategies, integrating automation, AI, and data-driven methodologies to accelerate Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) cycles.

• Being part of an interdisciplinary Science & Research team of industry-leading researchers with a state-of-the-art equipped research facility
• Work at the forefront of new technology implementation towards the discovery of new ingredients for Perfumery & Beauty.
• Work in continuous dialogue with colleagues in perfumery and process chemistry.
• Become part of a diverse and highly innovative and international Science & Research team.

• A PhD in Chemistry, with a strong foundation in organic chemistry and drug discovery, with proven record of leveraging AI/ML in chemical research.
• 5 to 10 years of industrial R&D experience in fragrance, life sciences, specialty chemicals, or pharmaceuticals, with experience in drug discovery as a plus.
• Proven track record in new molecule discovery and innovation, with experience leading or contributing to successful R&D projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor teams, while also contributing effectively as a collaborative team member.
• A deep passion for scientific innovation, with a proactive mindset and enthusiasm for exploring novel technologies and methodologies, with a focal point on automation.
• Curious, open-minded, and highly self-motivated, with strong analytical thinking and excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.
