About the Position
As part of IATA’s Aeronautical Charges team within the Operations, Safety and Security division, you will provide strategic leadership and support for IATA’s global advocacy initiatives related to aeronautical charges. Your role will involve engaging stakeholders, shaping advocacy positions, and driving high‑impact initiatives to promote efficiency, transparency, and cost‑effectiveness for IATA member airlines.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team tasked with delivering IATA’s aeronautical charges advocacy strategy, ensuring accountability, collaboration, productivity, and consistency in quality standards.
- Assume responsibility for the team’s strategic approach, performance, and capacity to deliver on its advocacy plans.
- Develop, communicate, and support the adoption of industry positions and recommended practices.
- Define and execute advocacy strategies related to aeronautical charges, focusing on economic regulation, cost efficiency, privatization, concession models, and sustainability‑linked mechanisms such as CO₂ and noise.
- Partner with IATA’s Corporate Communications team to develop and execute communication strategies that articulate IATA’s positions, objectives, initiatives, and achievements.
- Deliver high‑quality briefings, reports, and presentations for senior management, IATA governance bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Represent IATA and its members in consultations with airports, ANSPs, governments, and regulatory authorities on charging schemes, terms, and policies.
- Act as IATA Secretary for the Airport and ANSP Charges Working Group (AAWG) and contribute to IATA governance bodies and industry working groups to align global and regional priorities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with ICAO, regional regulators, and industry associations to shape the future of airport and ANSP economic oversight.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of commercial products and initiatives such as the Aviation Charges Intelligence Center (ACIC), development of publications, guidance materials, and training programs.
- Identify and develop opportunities for revenue generation, including supporting commercial products such as training, publications, consulting, and events.
- Ensure the value of initiatives, consultations, and partnerships through rigorous oversight and quality assurance.
- Drive innovation through the design and application of airport performance data and business intelligence tools, enabling evidence‑based advocacy and benchmarking.
- Collaborate with IATA’s commercial, data analytics, and economics teams to monitor financial, legal, regulatory, geopolitical, and operational trends, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce airline costs.
- University degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Experience leading a global team, preferably with exposure to aeronautical charges, airline, airport, and ANSP operations and economics.
- Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks and economic principles governing aeronautical charges, including forecasting and weighted average cost of capital (WACC).
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence at the highest levels with governments, regulators, and industry executives, with excellent stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and adaptive skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and with agility.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Experience in managing technology‑driven data or performance projects is an asset.
