The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), one of the specialized United Nations agencies dedicated to digital communications and technologies, has announced the call for applications for its flagship “ITU GCYLP Leadership Programme 2026.” It is an intensive one-year leadership program organized in partnership with Huawei, which aims to empower young digital leaders and changemakers. There are no country restrictions; young leaders from around the world are encouraged to apply.
The goal of the program is to provide financial support, training, and resources to help young leaders implement digital development projects within their communities. The program includes a year-long remote training component followed by in-person participation in Global Development Week in Geneva, Switzerland. The ITU is seeking applications from young individuals aged 18-28 who are pursuing degrees or have recently graduated in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or related fields, and who are passionate about creating meaningful change in their communities.
Each year 30 young fellows from across the world are offered financial support, training and guidance to implement their development projects. No application fee is required; the application process is online, and the deadline for submission is March 31, 2026
