To be successful in the role of a Private Bank Controls Oversight, you should have the following skills:
- Strong Understanding risk and control frameworks, with the ability to apply and oversee their effective operation.
- Proven experience in control and governance activities, including reporting and audit including engaging with global stakeholders up to and including proven experience of MD level engagement.
- Demonstrated experience/proven knowledge of Private Banking & Wealth Management (PBWM) Investments, the underlying businesses and downstream processes. A strong knowledge of the business’sproducts, processes and workflow cycles and a strong understanding of the key operational and risk factors.
- Experience of analysing large sets of data to support investigations and any findings when presenting outcomes.
- Proficient French and English written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of DPM, FX, Capital Markets and Investment Advisory policies and procedures.
Some other highly valued skills include:
- Understanding of Private Bank Wealth Management Investments business and its different business segments, including the relevant stakeholders for each.
- Understanding of Discretionary Management front to back operating model. Knowledge of the front‑to‑back operating model for Discretionary Portfolio Management, as well as the operating practices of FX, Capital Markets, and Advisory desks.
- Existing knowledge of PBWM Controls operational structure.
- Hands‑on experience in performing, enhancing and automating controls, and supporting assurance and oversight activities.
- Capability in interpreting and supporting business strategy and long‑term plans. Demonstrated ability to interpret and support business strategy, contributing to long‑term planning and operational alignment.

Purpose of the roleTo assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.
Accountabilities- Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk
- Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
- Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
- Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
- To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.
