Equipment Engineering Manager

The Equipment Engineering Manager will work with a team of industry professionals to develop and maintain technical specifications for container handling equipment and support the procurement process of this equipment from tender to handover, including participation in design review, project management, quality assurance and final acceptance.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute heavy equipment procurement. Run and support process from Business Development to end of commissioning, from procurement to operations.
  • Coordinate with equipment colleagues, civil engineers, and project implementation teams.
  • Support development of TiL technical specifications for equipment.
  • Support development and implementation of automated equipment specifications and solutions.
  • Maintain and coordinate the procurement plan for equipment and ensure it meets agreed timelines and other deliverables. Perform tender process according to TiL procurement policy and justify recommended decision.
  • Contribution to the assessment of feasibility to terminals with upgrades, refurbishment, modernizations, relocations, major repairs of equipment.
  • Verify design, calculations, manufacturing, quality control, commissioning and final acceptance of equipment is according to TiL technical specification.
  • Research and identification of technology and innovations, which may contribute to improved efficiency in terminals and assessment of its cost effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications /Experience/Skill
  • Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Strong technical background followed by functional engineering experience at gathering and evaluating engineering information and making actionable recommendations to management.
  • Expert knowledge of container terminal equipment design, manufacturing, and automation integration.
  • Experience with and detailed understanding of procurement and contract negotiations.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in equipment design, manufacturing, quality, performance, procurement, repair, modification (manager).
  • Minimum 25 years’ experience in equipment design, manufacturing, quality, performance, procurement, repair, modification (director).
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English with strong expertise in concise and effective written and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven track record in change management, being tactful with high level of diplomacy to enable successful interaction across a multi-cultural environment especially in joint ventures.
  • The ability to work logically, consistently and accurately while capable of handling multiple priority projects simultaneously.
