T&S is a trading company in charge of all physical trading and shipping of crude oil and refined products on behalf of the Total Energies Company. It operates in fast-evolving market dynamics and requires constant adaptation.

As a Loss Controller, you will be part of a global team supporting more than 250 trading operators and traders worldwide. You will provide technical expertise and operational support on all quantity and quality (Q&Q) aspects of crude oil, petroleum products, petrochemicals, LPG, biofuels and bio feed stocks. You also contribute to crude loss analysis for the Refining & Chemicals business. Your mission safeguards the Company’s financial interests by minimizing cargo losses, ensuring product quality, controlling blending/doping operations, and reducing demurrage, inspection, and claims costs.

Your responsibilities include all duties associated with a Cargo Loss Controller, Claim Analyst Q&Q, Blending Advisor, and Product Quality Surveyor, such as:

• Field Expertise
• Inspect and evaluate storage terminals used by T&S to assess operational practices, technical reliability, and safety performance, helping minimize quantity, quality, and safety risks.
• Carry out storage technical visits on behalf of traders or management.
• Conduct field missions to rigorously monitor complex transportation logistics, preserving Company interests.
• Attend critical loading and discharging operations to optimize operational outcomes and ensure compliance with international standards and industry best practices.
• Operational Support
• Provide day‑to‑day technical advice to traders and trading operators on Q&Q issues during loading/unloading, transport, and operations such as tank preparation for cargo compatibility and STS operations.
• Monitor cargo quantity and quality throughout the full logistics chain, ensuring cargos comply with contractual specifications and coordinating inspections and responses for off-specification or cargo-loss situations.
• Maintain strong networks and communication with operators and traders, anticipating issues and proposing solutions.
• Follow the blending process from theoretical simulations to hand blends and final execution, in coordination with laboratories, traders, and operators.
• Participate in technical decisions related to additives and product modifications.
• Inspection & Superintendent Companies Coordination
• Monitor and assess performance of inspection and superintendent companies, update internal evaluation tools such as TROPIC, and recommend improvements.
• Support Management in developing relationships and negotiating rates with loss control service providers; help prepare tenders or RFPs for inspection and superintendent services.
• Knowledge Maintenance & Networking
• Stay updated on international rules, guidelines, standards, and regulations related to quality testing and quantity measurement; provide technical support for trading operators and traders.
• Provide internal training to ensure a consistent Loss Control knowledge base across Trading Operations.
• Accompany trading operators on field missions as part of their development and contribute to internal analyses or reporting.
