The 2026 CERN Student Internship Program in Switzerland is a fully free internship program for International Students from all over the world. Details of the covered expenses are given below:

  • A visit of 8 to 13 weeks to work on a technical project will be provided.
  • A 90 CHF per calendar day (without tax).
  • The travel allowance will be paid at the end of the program for the cost of travel between Geneva and your residence.
  • Free Accommodation.
  • The students who are paid directly from a national funding agency have to come to CERN with their insurance coverage.

To qualify for a place on the programme, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • The applicant must be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student (not PhD) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics and should have completed, by the European Summer 2026
    , a minimum of three years of full‑time studies at the university level.
  • The applicants will remain registered as students during their stay  the student expects to graduate during the European summer of 2026 (as of May), he/she is also eligible to apply.
  • The applicants have not worked at CERN before with any other status (Technical Student, Trainee, User or other status) for more than 3 months, and you have not been previously a Summer Student at CERN.
  • Must have a good knowledge of English; knowledge of French would be preferred.
