Adjunct Faculty, Chemistry Lab - Department of Chemistry

Geneva College invites applications for a Chemistry Lab Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The position begins in August of 2024 and will remain open, until filled.

We are seeking an experienced Chemistry Laboratory Adjunct to join our Chemistry team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and mentoring students in the laboratory setting. Responsibilities include preparing for laboratory experiments, providing guidance to students on lab techniques and ensuring a safe laboratory environment. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemistry concepts and be able to effectively communicate with students.

Strong organizational skills and a commitment to promoting a safe learning environment are essential.

• Teach assigned contact hours per semester.
• Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (

• Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines.
• Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
• Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
• Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
• Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
• Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.

• Prepare laboratory reagents as necessary.
• Ensure a safe laboratory environment.
