Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Full Time Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode.

The RN develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions, providing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

• Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and analyzing data obtained through assessment and team communication.
• Creates individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Coordinates and documents patient education to enhance understanding and self-care post-discharge.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice, engaging in continuous professional development.
• Demonstrates skill in application of nursing interventions, including medication administration.

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications
  
  Required:
  
  BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS
• One year of experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse

This position requires full-time shifts consisting of 3x12s, with day or night shifts scheduled as needed by the client, including every other weekend and holiday, plus 2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks.
