Purpose:

The Hardware & System Designer is responsible for designing, evaluating, implementing and integrating electronic systems, components and/or integrated circuits into Allerium’s Agency Call Handling Solutions products. He is also responsible for the design, prototyping, selection, integration and lifecycle management of various components used to implement complex telecommunications systems, business applications, or networking products.

Responsibilities:

Participate in all phases of product development: from design ideas, implementation, simulation, re-spin and release to production using standard industry tools

Design verification and regulatory testing

Write required design documentation and test plan

Handle mechanical, reliability, integrity and/or compliance aspects related to the designed product

Interpret requirements and sources, evaluate and select components and materials, ensuring required interoperability

Contribute to system architecture design and assist with product prototyping

Conduct detailed analysis of defined system specifications

Define system specifications and qualification tests

Develop and document designs that meet applicable standards

Select, qualify and integrate 3rd party equipment and software

Integrate and test complex features

Test and troubleshoot embedded systems including custom hardware and RTOS

Integrate and design software for communications equipment on Windows Operating Systems

Analyze and resolve complex problems (multi-components, multi-disciplinary or intermittent in nature)

Contribute to decisions on architecture and selection of technologies

Attend meetings, report progress, take technical leadership and ownership of assigned design work

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of lifecycle management experience in a similar role

Experience in designing electronic circuits

Experience in IP and network protocols

RTOS and Embedded systems experience is an asset

Keen interest in real-time programming, communication protocols, client-server, command and control telecommunication systems

Excellent understanding of Hardware Development and product lifecycle

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English, French an asset)

Able to commit and comply with timelines and budget

Education:

University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
