Job Overview
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Zebrafish models for Genetic and Metabolic Pathologies, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Responsibilities• Conduct innovative, independent research using zebrafish as the primary model organism in genetic and metabolic disease/pathology studies.
• Develop a competitive, externally funded research program and establish strong collaborations with the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) and Scarborough Health Network (SHN).
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop course materials, and mentor students, including those from underrepresented communities.
• Participate actively in the Graduate Department of Cell and Systems Biology and contribute to inclusive teaching and research culture.
Qualifications• PhD in Biological Sciences or related field with a minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, evidenced by publications, research statement, presentations, awards, teaching dossier, and strong letters of reference.
• Research expertise in genetic and/or metabolic diseases or pathologies using zebrafish as the primary model.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and promotion of a respectful learning environment, demonstrated through an EDI statement.

$138,000 to $153,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this range considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
