Job Description Multi-skilled Engineer - Electrical Bias - Based at Gateshead4 on 4 off, 6am‑till 6pm and 6pm‑till 6am (rotating shifts)
Valeo Foods UK is on the lookout for talented Multi-skilled Engineers to join our team at our Gateshead site – home of the much-loved tortilla crisps and rice cakes. If you're passionate about engineering, thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, and want to be part of a positive can‑do team that keeps some of the UK’s favourite snacks on the shelves, we’d love to hear from you!
What You'll Be Doing- Daily repair of machinery and carrying out proactive tasks when possible
- Planning and monitoring machine performance
- Monitoring failures
- Supporting external contractors
- Providing technical support for production when required
- Maintaining the highest standards in housekeeping, adopting a clean‑as‑you‑go policy
- Maintaining the highest standards when completing paperwork and work sign‑off
- H&S and safe work practices
- Food safety, minimising day‑to‑day risks in plant operation and involving contractors
- Planning to ensure the company can hit its required targets
- Firefighting machinery and site services upkeep, carrying out ongoing maintenance PPM in a timely manner
- Promoting and contributing to continuous improvement of plant operation
- Minimising downtime
- Training and guiding production staff in correct machinery handling and training our maintenance technicians from within the department
- Working on projects as allocated by the Engineering Manager
- Any other duties as requested by the Engineering Manager
- Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification with basic mechanical skills
- Competent in all forms of isolation and electrical safety
- Proactive and self‑initiated
- Experience of FMCG operations
- PC literate (able to use computer‑based maintenance systems)
- Able to disassemble machines in full and reassemble them, as well as complete machine size change procedures and their adjustments
