Maths Cover Supervisor – SEN School (Small Group Teaching)
Location: Gateshead
Position: Full-Time
Protocol Education is working with a fantastic SEN school in Gateshead that is looking to welcome a Maths Cover Supervisor to their supportive and well-structured team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong knowledge of maths
, including maths tutors who are looking to transition into the classroom and gain valuable school experience
.
The school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported in very small groups of just 3–4 students
, allowing staff to build strong relationships and deliver personalised learning.
What your day will look like:
Delivering maths-focused lessons and activities to small groups of 3–4 pupils
Supporting students with additional learning needs in a calm and structured environment
Covering pre-planned maths lessons when teachers are absent
Providing targeted support and tutoring to help pupils build confidence in numeracy
Working closely with the SEND team and classroom staff
Encouraging engagement through practical and accessible learning approaches
What we’re looking for:
A good basic knowledge of maths
Experience as a maths tutor, teaching assistant, cover supervisor or similar
A passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Confidence managing small groups of pupils
An interest in working within special educational needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
