Maths Cover Supervisor – SEN School (Small Group Teaching)

Position: Full-Time

Protocol Education is working with a fantastic SEN school in Gateshead that is looking to welcome a Maths Cover Supervisor to their supportive and well-structured team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong knowledge of maths
, including maths tutors who are looking to transition into the classroom and gain valuable school experience
.

The school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported in very small groups of just 3–4 students
, allowing staff to build strong relationships and deliver personalised learning.

What your day will look like:

• Delivering maths-focused lessons and activities to small groups of 3–4 pupils

• Supporting students with additional learning needs in a calm and structured environment

• Covering pre-planned maths lessons when teachers are absent

• Providing targeted support and tutoring to help pupils build confidence in numeracy

• Working closely with the SEND team and classroom staff

• Encouraging engagement through practical and accessible learning approaches

What we’re looking for:

• A good basic knowledge of maths

• Experience as a maths tutor, teaching assistant, cover supervisor or similar

• A passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning

• Confidence managing small groups of pupils

• An interest in working within special educational needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
