We are looking for Additional Needs Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team in the Gateshead and Surrounding area’s. This fulfilling role centres on supporting pupils with a range of additional needs—including Autism, ADHD, learning delays, and social/emotional challenges—to access learning, regulate emotions, and develop confidence.

You’ll work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and pastoral staff to create a positive, therapeutic learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.

• Experience supporting children or young people, ideally those with SEND or additional needs either in an employed or voluntary setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and positive relationships
• The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or educational)
• A compassionate, proactive approach and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
• GCSEs in Maths and English (C / 4 or Functional Skills Level
  2)

• Support pupils’ academic, emotional and social development within the classroom and wider school setting
• Implement personalised strategies that promote focus, emotional regulation and engagement
• Encourage learning through creative, differentiated, and therapeutic activities
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and external professionals to provide consistent, tailored support
• Adapt approaches to meet individual learning needs and help track pupil progress
• Contribute to pastoral care, ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers, sharing successes and promoting strong home–school relationships
