Teacher Active are looking for a hearing impaired specialist in Gateshead. We have opportunities to work within a variety of schools within the area. We create amazing rapport with our schools and support staff to find you the best suitable placements. The schools within the area strive to create a fun learning environment with the aim for every pupil to look forward to learning.

We are currently looking for a learning support / HI Specialist to cover a maternity leave from February 2026 and Easter 2026. This is a great chance to widen your experience and have the excitement of working within local schools. You will have the guaranteed opportunity to support pupils and help them thrive within the school.

• Experience of supporting young people on a 1:1 basis (desirable)
• Confident supporting children in early years and KS1 / KS2
• Supporting children with hearing impairment – Essential
• Have access to your own vehicle
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience in an educational establishment
• A calm, patient, and caring personality
