About the RoleWe are seeking a committed, compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 at our specialist SEN school in Gateshead.
You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils with a range of special educational needs
, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN in classroom and small-group settings
Support learning across the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
Assist pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour support, and social development
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Support the implementation of EHCP targets
Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Support personal care where required (training provided)
Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
A patient, calm, and positive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine commitment to supporting young people with additional needs
The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable
A supportive and welcoming staff team
Ongoing training and professional development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
