Level 2 Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full-time / Term-Time Only

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and friendly school team in Gateshead. The successful candidate will assist teachers in the classroom, support pupils’ learning, and contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children, has strong communication skills, and is committed to supporting pupils’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities- Support classroom learning for individuals and small groups of pupils
- Assist in planning and preparing resources under teacher guidance
- Help maintain a positive and safe learning environment
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Assist with supervision during lessons, break times, and lunchtime
- Use ICT effectively to support learning where appropriate
- Contribute to record-keeping and monitoring pupil progress
- Committed, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with children
- Good understanding of child development and learning processes
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication skills with pupils, staff, and parents
- Adaptable and flexible in approach
- Able to follow instructions and implement learning strategies effectively
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Experience supporting pupils in a classroom setting (desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
