We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to join our screening programme. The work is varied and can be demanding with an emphasis on accuracy, adaptability and the ability to prioritise competing workloads. As an Administrator you will support patient pathways by providing administrative support to our clinical team across two trusts. The post holder will support the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Manager, Administration Manager & senior team lead in the day-to-day management of the Bowel Cancer Screening centre and FIT/positive appointments.
This position will work in a collaborative environment where attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving are highly valued. Manage and coordinate daily administrative tasks to support team operations and the smooth function of the screening programme. Maintain accurate records and documentation within systems, ensuring compliance with relevant policies.
Main duties of the job- Work as a team member within the admin office and provide a comprehensive administration role for the Bowel Cancer National Screening Programme South of Tyne.
- Have good working knowledge and keyboard skills to accurately deal with data.
- Professional and courteous manner when dealing with patients and other professionals at all times, aligning with the trusts ICORE values and behaviours.
- Actively monitor appointments for Bowel Screening using the relevant screening software systems.
- Liaise with the relevant staff to ensure effective patient management and waiting list utilisation.
- Deliver a seamless pathway for participants by working as part of a collaborative admin team, ensuring shared responsibilities for the day‑to‑day workload for screening.
- Manage and prioritise workload to ensure daily activities undertaken are timely and reflect accurate data input.
- Ensure that an effective and efficient service is provided to meet the needs of clients, patients and staff.
- Manage own workload by prioritising tasks accordingly to meet screening targets and deadlines.
- Participate in appropriate data extraction for the regular audits carried out.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures and all departmental work procedures relating to all screening services.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team – provide assistance and support to all staff and undertake any duties that may be required to meet the demands of the service.
- Deal with anxious patients with tact, persuasion, patience and discretion.
- Demonstrate a sensitive and professional approach to client groups.
- Recognise where communication difficulties arise and overcome barriers to understanding.
- Keep senior staff informed of workload and seek advice where necessary.
- Handle routine and non‑routine enquiries by letter/fax/email and telephone.
- Other key working relationships include: medical staff internal and external to the programme, administrative staff, cancer waiting times tracking team/MDT co‑ordinators, consultants, GPs and outside agencies.
