At Stancil Services, strong plumbing systems start with well-prepared underground and rough-in installations. The Slab/Rough Labor - Plumbing position provides vital jobsite support during the slab (underground) and rough-in stages, assisting crews with material handling, trenching, layout preparation, back filling, and general site tasks that ensure efficient workflow and high-quality installations.
This is an entry-level field position ideal for someone motivated, hardworking, and eager to learn the plumbing trade. Slab/Rough Laborers play an essential role in maintaining safe, clean, and productive jobsites while supporting lead plumbers and foremen with daily tasks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- none
- Assist slab and rough-in crews with groundwork, trenching, back filling, and preparing areas for underground piping.
- Transport, load, and distribute tools, pipe, fittings, and materials to designated work areas.
- Support basic underground plumbing layout tasks such as marking pipe paths and staging materials.
- Clean up job sites, remove debris, and maintain organized work areas to support productivity and safety.
- Backfill trenches and bedding materials under direction of the foreman or lead plumber.
- Operate basic hand tools and jobsite equipment after proper training.
- Assist with cutting, measuring, or preparing materials for rough-in installation.
- Follow safety procedures, use PPE, and help identify hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Support slab preparation activities such as leveling, trench cleanup, and pipe bedding.
- Communicate field needs, material shortages, or concerns to the Slab/Rough Foreman promptly.
- Work cooperatively with plumbing crews and other trades on the jobsite.
- Perform physically demanding tasks to support daily operations.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).
- Have basic knowledge of tools and plumbing materials, including knowledge of fitting sizes and types of piping.

shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

• May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
• This position requires working in an outdoors environment.
• Individuals may be exposed to varying temperatures including very hot (above 90 degrees
F) or very cold (below 32 degrees
F) and all-weather conditions.
• Individuals may be exposed to cramped work spaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
