Base pay will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience. The role is also eligible for team‑based bonus opportunities. Temporary associates are not benefits‑eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Veterans, transitioning active‑duty military personnel, and military spouses are encouraged to apply. Brookdale offers to advance fees for naturalization (Form N‑400) application costs, up to $725, for qualified associates who have been with us for at least a year.

Responsibilities
  • Manage associates responsible for general operating maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
  • Supervise community maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff—hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues, and firing.
  • Direct workers engaged in interior and exterior maintenance; inspect completed work for compliance.
  • Oversee scheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Coordinate resident maintenance requests—repair plumbing, electrical, heating, replace light bulbs.
  • Oversee repairs and maintenance of buildings, including vacated rooms, painting walls, and cleaning carpets.
  • Ensure walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in common areas are properly maintained.
  • Maintain positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and other governing jurisdictions.
  • Assess plumbing and electrical problems; determine corrective action within legal scope of codes.
  • Review safety data sheets for potential chemical exposure and take necessary precautions.
  • Assess property damage and file claims in accordance with company policy.
  • Respond to resident or community emergencies as needed.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Valid State Driver’s License required for vehicle travel, as needed.

Management/Decision Making
Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment to solve moderately complex problems.

Knowledge and Skills
Possesses extensive knowledge of a distinct function; thorough understanding of the organization and work environment; ability to multitask and prioritize work.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Standing, walking, sitting, use hands and fingers; occasional weekend, evening, or night work if needed.
  • On‑call on an as‑needed basis; reach with hands and arms.
  • Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Talk or hear; vision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Possible exposure to various drugs, chemicals, infectious or biological hazards.
  • Risk of injury from falls, burns, odors, or cuts from equipment; occasional travel.
