Position: ICU RN  - Gastonia, NC

Overview

A critical care nursing opportunity is available for experienced registered nurses skilled in cardiovascular and intensive care settings. This contract role focuses on adult CTICU patients requiring advanced cardiac interventions and life-support technologies. The position operates on a 12-hour night shift schedule with a set weekend rotation, offering a challenging and rewarding environment for dedicated ICU nurses.

Location:

Gastonia, NC. This role is based in Gastonia, a city known for its friendly community and proximity to larger metropolitan areas. Shift Details
  • 12-hour night shifts, starting at 7 PM
  • Weekend rotation every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night
  • Holiday coverage at 75% of scheduled holidays
  • No on-call or callback requirements
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct bedside care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including those with ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, Impella devices, and other cardiac support technologies
  • Maintain patient ratios of one nurse to two patients to ensure quality care
  • Present detailed patient reports twice per shift
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and support staff
  • Utilize EMR systems (Epic) for documentation and patient management
  • Support patient care within adult critical care units as required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years experience in CTICU or equivalent level cardiac intensive care
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proven ability to manage high-acuity cardiac patients with complex devices (ECMO, Impella, IABP)
  • Experience with Epic EMR system is mandatory
  • Strong communication skills and clinical presentation ability

  • 14-bed unit with an average daily census of 11 patients
  • Access to CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and hospitalist support 24/7
  • State-of-the-art technology including Philips and Edwards monitors, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
