Residential Counselor

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized emotional and practical support to residents, addressing personal, social, and behavioral needs
• Monitor and document residents’ progress, behavior, and overall well-being.
• Assist residents with daily living activities such as hygiene, meal preparation, and routines.
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution, using de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive residential environment in compliance with policies
• Advocate for residents’ needs, help them access community resources, and support independence goals.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED required;
  Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field often preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and patience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including those with mental health needs or behavioral challenges.
• Crisis intervention and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Good organizational skills and basic proficiency with documentation.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Certifications such as CPR/First Aid may be required or preferred.
