We are seeking a Tret Certified CEI inspector for our Gastonia, NC office location. The CEI Inspector supports roadway and bridge construction projects by monitoring contractor activities, performing field inspections and material tests, and documenting compliance with NCDOT plans, specifications, and safety/environmental standards.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Inspect daily construction activities (grading, paving, bridge work, traffic control) for compliance with NCDOT requirements.
- Perform material sampling and field testing (e.g., soil, concrete, asphalt).
- Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, contractor activity logs, and payment documentation.
- Monitor erosion control and environmental compliance per NCDOT standards.
- Participate in progress and safety meetings and coordinate with engineers, contractors, and NCDOT staff.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High school diploma or GED; technical degrees in Civil or Survey Technology preferred.
- Experience in roadway/bridge construction or inspection (1–2+ years preferred depending on level).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain required NCDOT certifications (e.g., QMS, Concrete Field Tech, Density, Erosion Control).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, navigate uneven terrain, and lift 40–50 lbs.
