Sr. Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in Gastonia, North Carolina. This is a long-term contract position that offers an opportunity to work closely with manufacturing processes and lead cost accounting initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in standard costing, inventory management, and process improvement while contributing to a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze and maintain accurate cost accounting records, focusing on manufacturing operations.

- Manage and evaluate bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure proper cost allocation.

- Identify and resolve inefficiencies in current processes, driving improvements in cost management.

- Collaborate with leadership to stabilize and enhance accounting workflows.

- Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.

- Utilize Sage MAS 500 software to manage and streamline accounting tasks.

- Lead a small team, providing guidance and hands-on support for daily operations.

- Conduct detailed cost analysis to support financial decision-making.

- Ensure compliance with standard costing practices and procedures.

- Partner with other departments to gather inputs and improve cross-functional processes. Requirements - Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

- Proficiency in Sage MAS 500 software and other accounting tools.

- Strong knowledge of bills of materials (BOMs) and inventory management.

- Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives.

- Hands-on experience with standard costing methodologies.

- Comfortable working onsite 5 days per week.

- Ability to lead and mentor a small team effectively.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
