Overview
ACADEMIC SUPPORT (NW-ACSP-IUNWA)
The Academic Advisor is responsible for providing high-quality academic and developmental advising to undergraduate and/or graduate students. The role includes developing and implementing strategies to support student performance, retention, and graduation, in alignment with the university's educational mission.
Responsibilities- Assists students in exploring academic interests, assessing strengths, and designing an informed academic path that supports their career goals
- Guides students in understanding relevant Indiana University (IU) policies related to academic progress, enrollment, and graduation
- Provides academic counseling for students pursuing or considering majors, minors, or certificates
- Explains curricular requirements and relevant school and campus policies
- Meets with students in group and individual sessions to support planning of academic programs consistent with educational goals and degree requirements
- Assists students in evaluating interests, values, and academic skills to make informed decisions regarding major selection, career direction, or graduate study
- Teaches students to navigate university systems, academic processes, and policies
- Promotes accountability and informed decision-making in academic planning
- Connects students to relevant campus resources, including academic support services, placement programs, internships, and study abroad opportunities
- Monitors students' academic progress; maintains confidential advising records; documents advising discussions; communicates relevant information to students and appropriate academic offices
- Represents academic advising at campus meetings, student events, and recruitment programs
- Assists in developing advising materials for student outreach
- Education
- Bachelor's degree
- Preferred:
Master's degree
- Work Experience
- Experience in student affairs, teaching, academic advising, or a related field
- Skills

- Demonstrates commitment to quality and professionalism
- Flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

$21.64 per hour
Maximum of 25 hours per week
