TEAM LEADER GENERAL
SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing all employees and implementing store processes: ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, presentation, selling, staffing and superior customer support. Create a customer‑first culture with exceptional store standards and team engagement.
- Provide superior customer service leadership to exceed customer expectations.
- Model and coach the team on balancing tasks with customer service to create a customer‑centric culture.
- Use customer feedback to enhance training and coaching.
- Model product knowledge and selling techniques for employee development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, well‑organized store environment.
- Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees per federal, state law and company policies; ensure proper staffing.
- Train, develop, and manage store employees, including performance management up to termination.
- Communicate store performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
- Ensure correct staffing for daily opening/closing; personally open/close two times per week.
- Analyze operating statements to identify financial trends and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee inventory ordering to meet in‑stock targets; review ordering plan weekly; follow basic stock replenishment.
- Implement merchandising to create appealing displays and drive sales.
- Rotate product according to company merchandising guidelines.
- Present merchandise per established practices; use fixtures, pricing, signage properly.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels; control damages, markdowns, scanning.
- Ensure cash integrity through accountability, key control, security practices.
- Educate team on store products for differentiated, easy, fun shopping experience.
- Follow company SOP, Employee Handbook, communications; ensure compliance.
- Complete paperwork and documentation per guidelines and deadlines.
- Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
- Cash handling procedures knowledge: accountability and deposit control.
- Cash, facility, safety control policies and practices knowledge.
- Operate cash register functions and tools to generate reports.
- Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, termination practices per legal and company requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication with staff, suppliers, customers.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Problem solving and handling varied situations.
- Respectful and effective interaction with staff, suppliers, customers.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and merchandising.
- Can drive own vehicle to bank to deposit money.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Post‑secondary business school training preferred.
- At least two years of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling to run checkout, stock merchandise, unload trucks.
- Handling merchandise and equipment: scanner, pricing guns, box cutters, containers, dollies, U‑boats.
- Lift up to 40 pounds frequently; up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional climbing (ladder).
- Drive or provide own transportation for deposits, meetings, travel to other stores.
- Fast‑paced, moderate noise level.
- Exposure to strong scents, outdoor weather, wet floors, cleaning solutions.
- Obtain and maintain relevant liquor license to sell and serve alcoholic drinks occasionally.
