Summary
Plant Health Technician is responsible for scouting for pests and diseases, conducting routine and preventive chemical applications, and weed management throughout the nursery. These duties must be done in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local safety regulations.
Qualifications and Competencies Specific to the Position- High School Graduate or equivalent and have NC Private Pesticide Applicator license or able to obtain after employment
- Proven ability to identify plants, pests, and diseases
- Minimum three (2) years of experience in nursery operations with emphasis on nursery production or related industry, preferred but no necessary
- Experience in basic construction or plumbing trade
- Heavy equipment operation preferred, but not necessary
- Strong oral and written skills and able to communicate with Spanish employees is preferred but not necessary
- Must be able to work all necessary hours including weekends, overtime and holidays when necessary
- Must be will and able to help in all areas of the nursery when necessary
