We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Planner II to join our team at K&A Engineering in Garner, NC
. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. You’ll be part of a dynamic, people-focused team where your expertise, ideas, and contributions will be valued and celebrated.

This role supports the Power Grid Operations (PGO) organization by coordinating materials required for construction and maintenance activities on substation and transmission line assets. The Material Coordinator will manage and track material needs for transmission‑voltage projects, working closely with PGO teams, Supply Chain, and material vendors. The position serves as the primary point of contact for resolving material‑related constraints within an assigned geographic area, ensuring timely delivery and availability to prevent project delays.

Expectations
  • Coordinate all activities related to material acquisition, delivery, staging, and tracking for transmission and substation projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Power Grid Operations, Supply Chain, and external material vendors.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve material constraints that could impact project schedules or execution.
  • Maintain visibility into material requirements and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Support field teams by ensuring necessary materials are available for construction and maintenance activities.
  • Utilize Maximo and other systems to monitor inventory, update records, and manage material workflows.
  • Participate in quarterly field/site visits (personal vehicle required; mileage reimbursed).
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to support operational goals.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo or similar asset management software.
  • Understanding of material acquisition, logistics, and delivery processes.
  • Knowledge of supply chain or transmission operations.
  • Experience in the utility industry or related operational environments.
  • Familiarity with transmission or substation construction workflows.

Pay Range $28-32/hour
