Position Summary

The Sorter/Grader is responsible for identifying, sorting, and grading various types of scrap and recyclable metals in the retail department. This position ensures that metals are properly separated while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and sort different types of metal materials (e.g., aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, steel, etc.) based on grade.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet company and customer specifications.
  • Operate basic hand tools, magnets, and testing equipment to determine metal type and quality.
  • Place graded materials in designated bins, containers, or storage areas.
  • Assist the equipment operators in loading/unloading materials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or equipment malfunctions to management.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in recycling, scrap metal, or warehouse operations is a plus.
