Position SummaryThe Sorter/Grader is responsible for identifying, sorting, and grading various types of scrap and recyclable metals in the retail department. This position ensures that metals are properly separated while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and sort different types of metal materials (e.g., aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, steel, etc.) based on grade.
- Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet company and customer specifications.
- Operate basic hand tools, magnets, and testing equipment to determine metal type and quality.
- Place graded materials in designated bins, containers, or storage areas.
- Assist the equipment operators in loading/unloading materials.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or equipment malfunctions to management.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. - Experience:
Previous experience in recycling, scrap metal, or warehouse operations is a plus.
