Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Comply with all safety standards and requirements to assure a safe and hazard-free workplace.
- Directly supervise, coach and mentor supervisors and team lead.
- Performs required administrative tasks; prepares required reports and correspondence.
- Establishes and maintains department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy.
- Leads crew by example by loading trucks and/or performing other duties as necessary.
- Maintain dock facilities in an organized manner.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures and safety standards.
- Develop, retain, and lead team members to ensure efficient operations in support of company’s mission and goals.
- Monitor, evaluate, and provide recommendations to SECO Management team to maintain efficient dock processes to improve dock operations performance.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and provide education to employees, as necessary.
- Develop cost-saving methods for increased terminal productivity.
- Contribute to short- and long-term organizational planning and strategy.
- Project and schedule dock employees based on forecasted business levels.
- Coach and instruct employees to increase individual and team performance.
- Recognize, reward, and reinforce good performance.
- Promote team building efforts to increase team morale.
- Oversee the training and development program of all dock employees.
- Assist in the hiring and performance evaluations of dock employees.
- Ensure labor hours are well balanced amongst team members while managing fatigue factors.
- Flexibility with schedule to get customer freight processed in a timely manner.
- Oversee supervisors to ensure opening and closing procedures are being followed according to policies and procedures.
- Coordinate all activities of dock workers, including processing floor, mix and pallet freight.
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Continually required to stand.
- Continually required to walk.
- Frequently required to lift/push/carry more than 50 pounds.
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather).
- Exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Continually loud noise.
- Travel to two additional locations, Garland TX and Ellenwood GA (located outside of Atlanta GA), will be required for a brief period, with overnight stays as necessary.
- Shift: First Shift: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm or until;
Tuesday through Saturday
Requirements
- Two to four years related experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge of cross-dock operations best practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage conflict.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions.
- Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
