Principal Responsibilities- Lead solid and hazardous waste management permitting, compliance, and plan development.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SPCC plans, training and compliance programs.
- Manage wastewater, stormwater, and air permitting and compliance programs.
- Conduct environmental compliance inspections, evaluations, and routine site audits.
- Lead environmental audits and compliance assessments, including identification and implementation of corrective actions.
- Research, interpret, and apply federal, state, and local environmental laws and standards.
- Maintain compliance with TCEQ and other Texas regulatory agencies; build and maintain agency relationships.
- Maintain records for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations for key performance indicators using sustainability software platforms.
- Support benchmarking and performance tracking for sustainability programs.
- Design and implement sustainability projects across energy, water, waste, and emissions.
- Keep current with new developments in environmental awareness and conservation and integrate into programs.
- Highly organized with good attention to detail and able to work independently as well as an effective team member of the Safety Department.
- Ability to think critically, analyze conflicting data, and evaluate information sources.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge across a wide range of audiences.
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of stormwater, waste management, environmental due diligence, sustainability, and EMS systems.
- Deep understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Experience with permitting specifications, project schedules, and compliance systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple sustainability or environmental projects meeting set deadlines.
- Ability to work with regulators, executives, consultants, contractors, and inspection agencies.
- Strong time management and follow through.
- Ability to develop training, outreach, and engagement programs for white- & blue-collar employees.
Formal Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or related field.
