Production Manager, Manufacturing Production

We are seeking a Group Leader who will be responsible for directing all operations and personnel within their assigned production department. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and planning skills to effectively assign production employees to specific functions within the department. The primary responsibility of this role is to execute the shift production schedule by assessing material and staffing needs, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Support company‑wide mission and objectives.
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the assigned department, including personnel and production activities.
- Support and enforce all GMP policies and procedures related to General Food Safety practices.
- Review previous shift production and determine any remaining balance to run.
- Verify end‑of‑shift production paperwork, including:
- Crew size
- Hours worked
- Cases produced
- Skids completed
- Verify item numbers, purchase order numbers, and materials for accuracy.
- Physically count finished materials to ensure accuracy.
- Verify case weight, purchase order number, and cases per skid.
- Report all accidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Assess personnel needs based on production orders and effectively communicate those needs to supervision.
- Train and develop personnel, including cross‑training across departments.
- Step into production roles as needed and demonstrate full knowledge of machine functionality.
- Rotate personnel to cover breaks as necessary.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work varying shifts as required, including overtime.
- Represent the department on the Company Safety Committee, as needed.
- Maintain accountability to the team and provide performance feedback to the Shift Supervisor.
- Report personnel issues to supervision promptly.
- Ability to direct and lead assigned crew members with a strong focus on safety and production goals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, up to 400 times per day.
- Ability to bend, turn, twist, push, pull, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to operate a forklift and clamp truck safely and effectively.
- Ability to accurately measure, count, and record weights.
- Strong counting and basic math skills.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
