Bachelors Level Social Worker

Overview

Vital Core Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in correctional health care, is hiring a Bachelor's Level Social Worker (BSW) for a Part‑Time position (8 hours per week on Saturdays) at the North Central Correctional Institution in Gardner, MA.

The Mental Health Professional will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with all other disciplines on the Behavioral Health Unit to provide a proactive and collaborative approach in serving the patient population.

• Assist patients in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness through one‑to‑one and group sessions.
• Provide support in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, support, and resources needed to achieve goals.
• Encourage and assist patients to collaborate with their Behavioral Health Professional and treatment team to plan steps for achieving their recovery and wellness goals.
• Utilize tools to assist patients in creating their own individual wellness and recovery plans.
• Work with the treatment team to teach problem‑solving techniques to individuals and groups, encouraging patients to share and discuss strategies for coping and managing daily challenges.
• Assist in building social skills that will enhance activities of daily living.
• Collaborate with the re‑entry team to help patients participate in the release planning process.
• Assist in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self‑advocacy.
• Attend training and meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must have a Bachelor’s in Social Work.
• Preferred two‑year employment in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or equivalent.
• Must receive a satisfactory background investigation report.
• Behavioral Health Professional co‑leads group therapy, one‑on‑one therapy, and crisis therapy.
